Public Policy Committee
NAMI NJ Public Policy Committee shall identify, develop, prioritize public policy and legislative positions and make recommendations to NAMI NJ Board of Trustees regarding advocacy positions with respect to issues involving mental health and serious and persistent mental illness. As directed by the Board of Trustees, the Committee shall engage in statewide advocacy and education on issues of concern to persons with a mental illness and their families. The Committee’s actives will align with NAMI’s three major policy priorities: Early Intervention, Improvement of Care, and Diversion from Justice Involvement. As directed by the Board of Trustees, the Public Policy Committee will advocate for legislation, policies and practices that will provide support for those affected by a mental illness and their families. To accomplish this goal, the Committee reviews and monitors New Jersey’s mental health system, community services, prospective legislation and funding levels.
