Sunday, December 10 – Musical Benefit for NAMI Sussex: Doors open at 1 p.m. at the Stanhope House, on 45 Main St., Stanhope, NJ, with Paddy Kaye, Rob Chaseman and Subtone, Johnny Charles Band, and Dave Fields Band. Tuesday, December 12 – Brain & Behavior Research Foundation presents: Meets the scientists webinar on “Understanding Resilience to Schizophrenia through Genetics” which will be held at 2 p.m. In this talk, Dr. Hess will discuss his latest research aimed at uncovering genes behind resilience to schizophrenia, underscoring the burgeoning field within psychiatric genetics dedicated to this phenomenon. Register Here

Thursday, December 14 – Join Governor Murphy, Attorney General Platkin, and other leaders as we celebrate the two-year anniversary of the ARRIVE Together program and its expansion across the state, and to hear several announcements about the future of this first-in-the-nation initiative. Thursday, December 14 – NAMI Ask the Expert presents: “Suicide in Pretrial Detention and Expanding the Crisis Care Continuum” a new virtual event which will take place via Zoom at 4 p.m. During this event they will explore how communities leverage SIM to build crisis care systems, and redirecting individuals in mental health crises from jails to supportive community-based care. Register Here

Tuesday, December 19 – Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) of Middlesex County in collaboration with NAMI of Middlesex County presents a “Gentle Yoga & Meditation” wellness program, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Join them for gentle yoga stretches, breathing, and meditation to help you relax and de-stress at this busy time of year! January 2024

Sunday, January 7 – The Darren Clark Jr. Memorial and NAMI NJ will observe the annual Invisible Pain Day with a community gathering at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. It is an official day to honor those who have lost a loved one to mental distress and suicide. Learn more

 

February 2024

Friday, February 9 – Saturday, February 10 – The AFSP Adult Support Group Facilitator Training Program offers suicide prevention organizers a way to create and facilitate a community support group for suicide loss survivors in the aftermath of a suicide. This course is offered as a two-day training and includes lectures, interactive discussions, and role-playing. This training is led by experts in the field of suicide bereavement.
