Research indicates that smokers who receive a combination of behavioral treatment and cessation medications quit
at higher rates than those who receive minimal intervention. CHOICES peer educators will provide information
about the prevalence of tobacco dependence among mental health consumers, and will be told from their own
perspective as mental health consumers and former smokers. This presentation will provide resources for behavioral
and pharmacological treatments that are available. Additionally, presenters will share information about a new
program called RIOT, which is committed to increasing education and reducing stigma about Opioid Use Disorder
and Medication Assisted Treatment in NJ.
