“Making Peace with Marijuana: Cannabis Use Awareness, Benefits and Precautions for Users”

Speaker: Jill Williams, MD, Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Division of Addiction Psychiatry
Rutgers University-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS)

As a growing number of states have legalized dispensing of cannabis or its extracts to people with a range of medical conditions and for general recreational usage, there have been increased questions and concerns from families. It is also clear that further research is needed to determine whether users are at greater benefit or risk for adverse health outcomes from cannabis use. In light of these growing concerns, this presentation will provide detailed information regarding the potential medicinal values of cannabis and its components. This presentation will be user-friendly and engage participants in clear education about the approved uses of cannabis, as well as, the health effects on attention, memory, learning and decision-making (in younger users) and contraindication, dependency, and safety issues, etc. If you are a family of a loved one with mental illness or co-occurring disorders, please do not miss this opportunity to learn more!
