Melissa R. Marano

Melissa Rivera MaranoOn a beautiful sunny day in 2012, I gathered my family and we went to our first NAMI NJ Walk. The spirit of that day clarified what I had felt since joining NAMI NJ in 2011 – community. It is this community that you experience when your loved one attends a support group, a teacher attends a workshop, a family receives a list of resources for their loved one, or you attend an art exhibition. All of this and more is NAMI NJ. Your support brings you into the NAMI NJ family.

As a mental health provider, I often become overwhelmed by the amount of services, advocacy, education and support provided by NAMI NJ to those with mental illness and those who care and love them. Since my first introduction to NAMI NJ as a Board of Trustees Member, I have been figuratively and literally on board!

NAMI NJ offers consumers of mental health services and those that love them opportunities to be active participants in improving their lives at all levels. The strength of our volunteers allows NAMI NJ to continue to provide advocacy, programs, support, and education.

As we all know too well, however, even with volunteers the costs are high. NAMI NJ needs you to provide the financial support that will allow us to continue this important work. When you support NAMI NJ, you join this family of advocates improving the lives of those affected by mental illness. Your financial support is an integral part of NAMI NJ and without a doubt, you do make a difference.
